Where you submit any material to our website you agree by your submitting the same to grant us a perpetual, royalty free, non-exclusive right and licence (including the right to sub-licence) to use reproduce, modify adapt, publish and exercise all copyright with respect to your material worldwide, save that we will not disclose your details without your express permission except within the company as detailed in paragraph below which deals with Integrity and confidentiality.

General Principles

Ask a Man operators have been recruited for their life skills, listening skills and communication and writing skills.

They are not qualified therapists, psychologists or counsellors (although some may possess these qualifications) they are not employed on this basis.

They are employed to work on a free-lance basis to offer the male perspective on their client's dilemmas. They are not expected to go beyond the boundaries of this definition and are strongly encouraged to direct their client to a more appropriate contact should they feel their situation is asking for them to operate outside of these boundaries.

All operators are thoroughly reference checked and wherever possible criminal record checks/ basic police checks – or self certified declarations whilst checks are getting . Whilst giving straight forward advice they have all agreed and signed our basic operating standard code of ethics.

All emails are retained as transcripts on the website database and may be utilised for training purposes. If transcripts are to be used for publishing names dates and other specifics of ID are always removed so confidentiality is maintained.

Integrity & Confidentiality

Summary of working practice

Ask-a-man Ltd has a code of ethics to ensure we are giving advice which is purposeful, given with integrity and sincerity and remains confidential in that names and circumstances of any written dilemma will not be disclosed by any of the writers. An outlines of particular emails may be used in a general sense wither for training purposes or related publications owned by ask-a-man Ltd,

Operators must treat all clients with integrity and dignity. They have a duty of care and have a regard for the wishes of the client. This involves listening, reflecting giving the advice they believe to be the most appropriate to the client at the time of contact but sign posting to a more appropriate support group should they feel their client requires this. Operators do not take on any legal or ethical responsibility other than the advice as advertised and is not responsible for any actions the client may choose to take following this advice.

Confidentiality

All our operators have signed a confidentiality agreement and abide by our code of ethics which is similar to any licensed registered health care professional. This means the operator will keep confidential all that a client says - other than for training purposes within the structures of Ask-A-Man.

General conditions include the protection of your anonymity - you don't need to use your real name and if you do it will not be disclosed to anyone outside of Ask a Man.

The website is a secure site and your identity cannot be accessed by anyone other than employees of ask-a-man ltd. Your email and your ID is hidden from members of the team who respond within the website.

They recognise that on occasions a client may present that is beyond their level of competence and expertise and is more likely to get more beneficial advice from an appropriate link on the links page. As a duty of care he should sign post his client to this fact, but is under no legal responsibility if she chooses not too.

Safety and Security

You are not allowed to meet or arrange to meet another person through use of the
Services. All emails are scanned for email addresses and telephone numbers. Attempts to bypass these rules may result in your future usage being prohibited.
You must notify us immediately of any apparent breach of security
such as loss, theft, misuse or unauthorised disclosure or use of a
username or password. In such case you should immediately amend your
password, using the Services.

Monitoring of Competence

Operators encourage that the process of seeking advice and help is a two way process but that ultimately the client is responsible for their own actions and choices. Operators should encourage the client that they do have a personal responsibility for their own actions and well being.

Advice is subjective and may be viewed as good – bad or indifferent depending on a viewpoints. However we offer our customers the opportunity to give feedback to all of our writers to ensure that the advice and the service is positive and useful.

Writers must be aware of the necessity to advice their client to consult with colleagues or other support groups if they become aware of any concern that is outside of their working boundaries.

Operators are responsible for avoiding exploitation of their clients financially, emotionally sexually or in any other way.

Publicity and Advertising

Ask-A-Man is a registered company and is not responsible for anyone who operates under similar names or similar types of services but is not directly employed by Ask-A-Man

Ask-A-Man will not be legally responsible for any services that are offered in this way and will pursue any individuals for breach of copyright, who attempt to do so with legal action.

Functioning of Site and Services

To properly use the Services, you must have the necessary
hardware, software and settings. You will also need reliable internet access. We do not guarantee that our Services will be uninterrupted or error-free or will achieve particular results nor do we guarantee the integrity or security of data. We will use our reasonable endeavours to rectify faults if they do occur.

We reserve the right to suspend the Services at any time without

The director will be responsible for overseeing the professional standards and initiating any process if necessary.
